Great to see this model again. I remember making it in 5 Year 1995 ✏️📐🛠
We both loved our time on the Green, many happy memories! Looking forward to the Mansion House, Alison (Inglis) & John Coy
Loved my time there. Memories of walking in croc to Tullamain for hockey and was it Epworth for tennis. Ann (nee Wakefield)
Mixed memories .... on the days when I hadn’t done my homework I would dread that view as I walked through the gates!
Such happy memories of this place!
Great memories of happy school days. Margaret (nee McMillan)
Brilliant. I was there from 1962 to 1969.
Well, memories anyway...
Great model of a great building, should never have been allowed to be demolished, faceless office building put in its place'😬. A lot of memories as a first form boarder marching from Burlington, wheel left through an arch marked "Boys" under the"East end" and through the back door that always slammed with a bang. The girls disappeared down stone steps into the "gym" and reappeared for assembly from there via stairs into the Assembly room. Simpe times and a completely different era.
This is an exact likeness, but There are two things missing in this model. Firsty the steps that went down to the girl's gym which was directly under the main assembly hall and the second is the balcony imediately over the porch. The balcony had a flagpole and access to the balcony was through that larger window we see immediatey over the porch in the model. That was the classroom of 4A being next to 4B. For those who don't remember it, that was the balcony on which we boarder boys were taken out by George Eagar one cold night in the late 1950's to see the Russia sattelite "Sputnick" flying over Ireland. then if we get into the nitty gritty the grass patch between Wesley and the Methodist Centenary Church wasn't exactly as in the model, but it doesn't matter it is really a great likeness and it brings back a lot of mixed memories.
Many thanks to Susan Paul, who came to the College this morning to be interviewed as part of our 175th celebrations. ... See MoreSee Less

There were no double breasted boys there in my time, neither do I recall double breasted blazers. I do recall Miss Cooke teaching us how to.construct a sentence.
We found this beautiful old hand carved wooden panel recently and wonder does anyone know what it is or where it comes from. Is it an old door or wall panel from the school or boardinghouses in town? Do you know who carved it? Let us know. ... See MoreSee Less

Denis Brosnan was indeed a horrible man but in those days he represented authority so we said nothing as we didn't think we would be believed. He would be in gaol if he was teaching nowadays.
Somewhere in the back of my mind this wooden panel awakes a faint memory. I have very vivid memories of my years as a boarder at Wesley and I can close my eyes and name almost every nook and cranny in the old building at St. Stephen's Green. If I am not mistaken this panel could be the one that was stacked away under the stairs that went from the Principals toilet up to the Burser's office which was in between the prefects room (Also Form 6a) and the tuck shop On the other side of the corridor was Form 4A and 4B the former being the location of what we boarder boys called "Senior room". Rev Gerald Myles used to stand and smoke a cigarette efter lunch at the bottom of the stairs and I remember there was a wooden carving placed there, but I never saw it close up. I have a feeling that it belonged to a previous era of the School's history. I could be wrong about this but looking at the crest it is obvious that it was pre 1959. But it is also possible that it could have been in the senior Boy's dining room prior to my time at Wesley i.e. 1940's. That room had all sorts of carvings and whatnot on the walls. Sorry I can't be of more help because these are just faint memories. I am however sure about the Principal's toilet at the bottom of the stairs and some wooden "thing" there.... I think this could be something for Ernest Armitage or someone from a period slighlty prior to mine. I can however say that it was definitely not anywhere above the 1st floor up. Its more likely that it was from the ground floor. It was also not in the chapel... I knew every square inch of that chapel. 🙂 Billy Butt WCD 1952 - 63

My old Maths teacher.. great to see him again. And believe it or not I met Arnie Edge at Monkstown Swimming Pool and Gym yesterday morning!
A gentleman. Roy was so helpful to me as a young teacher back in the '80s.
